Letterboxing 101

Adam, Emily and I went on our first successful letterboxing excursion last week. We went into the Quabbin Reservoir and then to the Quabbin Park Cemetery. I say we went on our first "successful" trip because we tried it about a month ago, hiked through the woods and didn't find anything. Last week's trip was much better. The scenery was gorgeous. We found 2 out of the 3 boxes we had clues for and we had a good time. Here's some pics of our adventure.

This is the start of our journey.

Getting closer to the first box.

I found it!

It was on a tiny beach on the edge of the water behind this pile of rocks.

The kids are checking out what's inside. Emily is writing stuff in her own book.

Skipping rocks (though we told Adam it looks like he's dancing...lol)

We didn't find the second box and I didn't take pics either. It was some pretty rough terrain.

Our third box was in an old cemetery. This was the last gravestone in our list of clues.
I only took a pic of the poem on the bottom. See if you can read it.

Off to find the letterbox. It's supposed to be hidden in this log somewhere...

There it is!
